Pallas and Coryn often fought over Max. Coryn often snuggled with him when he was baby while Pallas, as a toddler, used Max to play with other objects.

Biography

Background

Max was once a toy owned by one of the children who arrived at Bring Your Daughter to Work Day, who died during the incident where GLaDOS flooded the facility with neurotoxin.

When GLaDOS was defeated by Chell, cores started maintaining the facility. One of them was the merchant core. He later discovered the doll in the Employee Daycare Center and later put him in his "market". No one was interested in Max at the time.

A few hours after baby Pallas was taken home, Atlas went to the merchant core's stand to find anything interesting and saw Max, thinking it would be a great toy for his newborn daughter.

Atlas asked what he could trade the doll for, and the merchant core replied that he could trade his "winged cat picture" for the doll. Atlas refused, saying that the picture belonged in his home and only his home. He asked the merchant core if he accepted money, which he replied yes. Max was bought for 9 dollars and was given to Pallas.

When Coryn was born, Max was temporarily given to him by his mother. Pallas herself wasn't exactly happy about this and often took Max from him. Basil never really cared for Max.

Project Marigold

Max was snatched by the Outsider's raven, which caused Pallas to chase her doll, eventually luring her into the base of the Outsiders.

Development

Max was originally meant to be somewhat an imaginary friend of Pallas, around November-December of 2020 when Bimbo was given away. Pallas was an only child who made him because she didn't have any siblings. Max at the time was also just black with three red stripes. In another story, an alternate universe existed where Max was a real cat living with his siblings Kyle and Kayla Maroon. Kyle was a hitman while Kayla moved to another dimension.
