La Llorona is a spirit in Mexican Folkore and a minor antagonist featured in Riftwalkers. She wanders the Earth in search of her children after being barred to be passed on, preying on children whom she thought as her missing sons.

The Weeping Woman would soon meet its days of wandering the earth to a temporary halt when she has been captured and extensively experimented on by Pantheon's Samedi, with orders to roam the dimensions in search of young mythical creatures to be raised and trained with the organization's ruthless disciplines.

La Llorona eventually duels Jamie when she was sent to terrorize Arcadia by Armadura, who currently has a leash on her. She acts as the arc villain for the While She Harshly Weeps episodes.

Appearance

La Llorona appears just exactly what the legends described her. A slender young woman of above-average height, a product of her forced experimentation done by her captor, wearing a white tattered gown and veil that covers her face.

On her wrists are metallic grey restraints glowing with pulsing markings of a violet glow.

Personality

β€œ Β‘Ay, mis hijos! (My children!) ”

β€”La Llorona's infamous phrase

....

Despite her hostile behavior towards children, the wraith has shown to have some standards as she was disgusted at her captor's act of sacrificing his young apprentice as bait. She seems to exhibit a level of sentience outside of her notorious filicidal tendency.

Powers & Abilities

Wraith Physiology: ....

Shadow Resistance: La Llorona is incredibly durable against darkness-based attacks, including Shadow Magic. Even Jamie's Quickening barely made any damage done towards her.

Weaknesses

  • Restraints: While the restraints have given a plethora of ghostly abilities, it also prevents the wraith from doing any further than it was exactly told to so, electrocuting her if she tries to resist it.

Trivia

  • La Llorona speaks exclusively in Spanish.
  • It has been implied that the spirit have also drowned non-humanoid children, such as Troll younglings; a claim that bewildered Jamie.
  • Jamie and his sister were told of La Llorona when they were younger by their parents, especially Claire, as a way to get them to sleep or to discipline them.
