Arbitrary Slaughter is a book series written by BlackfeatherWarriors. It consists out of three books and each is a work-in-progress.

Important author notes:[]

I made comments under things that editors had trouble understanding (or just plot hole explanations) so if anything confuses you, check the notes.
I also understand a bit may seem far fetched, there is no fantasy in this book, but it isn’t supposed to be 100% possible. (for example how poor a town could be. Obviously they wouldn’t have such nice houses if they couldn’t afford a better swat team, or people in the town who are richer than the people who run the town). The main plot is meant to be realistic, without touching on the fact that a couple things aren’t as so. (Although I try and cover everything up to make it more realistic)
If you think the plot is far fetched, it’s probably because everything is very specific and lined up (HOW MOST BOOKS ARE!!! Just a note for any of my editors because I keep getting the same comments, it’ll turn out better in the real thing, I can’t stress this one enough, but it is MUCH smoother in the actual book.)
Finally, Trigger Warning for suicide attempts, murder, overdose, smoking, drugs and an abusive relationship (by abuse I mean a scene where one person strangles the other, nothing sexual)

Backstory:[]

A 15 year old kid named Rowan Vanderbilt broke into his Highschool at night with his best friend (a 16 year old girl he liked named Olivia) to vandalize peoples lockers. They did so yet were found by two drug addicts (17-18 years old if I had to say). They were the  aggressive sort of drunk and so out of panic, Olivia shot both of them. She ran off, leaving Rowan wondering why the hell she had a gun on her and just overall horrified because I guess two dead guys wouldn’t be a very pleasant view. Standing there over shock, a custodian saw him and Rowan was framed for murder. He stayed in jail for months then finally escaped by climbing a fence and jumping off the pier and into the water. He changes his name to Axl Jackson, dyes his hair and lives with his brother, Noah Vanderbilt.

Olivia's name is changed to Indie Gallagher. She meets a guy named Damon Wixx (19), who’s sister owns an illegal bounty hunting corporation. Her and Damon join it together. Indie lived on her own for the year Axl was in prison and comes to the conclusion that he is the reason those guys were after her and that he left her even though he was in jail. She realizes he's escaped and hunts him down because she’s batshit crazy.

(This is where the book starts)[]

Axl goes back to school and meets Oliver McCartney. Oliver just moved into town from London England. Axl can tell Oliver’s gay and likes him and just jokes about it whenever they hang out, without the intent of liking him back.

They met because Axl attempted suicide and Oliver thought he was going for a nice cold late night in the middle of febuary swim. So he saved him and Axl at first went off on him then they got closer and they dated.

Meanwhile, Indie accidentally got pregnant because of Damon (their relationship ended very quickly). Damon realized Indie was a psychopath and got both his kids out of the apartment they stayed in with her. He brought them to a convenience store so he could buy some beers. The kids went exploring and wound up in the hands of Axl. Who was freaked out by the fact that the girl looked exactly like Indie. He brought them to Noah and they let them stay at their place until they found an adoption center

Oliver wants Axl to meet his London friends, and so they go on a trip with Oliver's mom and Axl’s brother. While they’re on the trip, Axl keeps getting phone calls with the label β€œRowan” and out of panic tells Oliver they need to fly home in the middle of the night.

They fly back by themselves because Axl didn’t want Noah knowing about where he’d been for a year. Axl buys guns and gives one to Oliver, and they drive to where the person who made the call agreed on meeting.

Indie found her kids in the adoption center and got them back.

Axl and Oliver waited on the pier where Axl attempted suicide till a military plane showed up with Indie and Damon. They surrounded them with a swat team. Indie started talking to Axl, who was ready to shoot her, and when Damon started talking, she immediately shot him off the pier and claimed he never really liked to shut the hell up. She kidnapped the two and brought them to the top off a building, where Axl stood at the edge of the building, Oliver held by a swat member next to Indie, and Indie’s son held in the same fashion. Indie was standing across from Axl with a gun pointed at him. The two kept addressing each other by their old names, leaving Oliver hella confused. Axl kept telling Oliver and Indie’s son to run. Her son did, Oliver didn’t. Indie told them to kill her son, right before shooting Axl off the building, killing him. Oliver was thrown after him. Oliver survived from landing on Axl's body. (There’s a 90% chance you’ll survive falling from a 7 story building, but Axl was shot).

The book ends with Oliver asking for someone to help Axl, him sitting on the ground, holding Axl’s head over his shoulder.

Book 2[]

Backstory:[]

Indie’s son was named Rowan after Axl. He ran until he found another city. From lasting days without clean water and food, he started hallucinating, remembering the time he spent with Axl, and watching him get shot. He started seeing Axl as if he were talking to him. Remember in a series of Unfortunate events how Violet needs to come of age to earn her parents' money? Rowan’s dad, Damon, was now dead, leaving Rowan with all his bounty hunting money. He got rich off that and started getting high to see Axl, because he was very lonely. He started hearing Axl talking (remember, all in his head), and telling him to kill Indie as revenge for killing him. Rowan went crazy and started knocking on peoples doors asking if they recognized a picture of Indie and when they said no, he’d beat them to death with a crowbar and bury them out in the country. He figured he was gay because Axl was and claimed he was non-bianary (They/He. You can call him β€œhe/him” though because that’s how the main character sees him.) Rowan changes his name to Viktor.

(This is where the book starts)[]

Shawn Garcia is 19 (intersex male) and poor. He lives with his daughter. He goes to a gas station and runs into Viktor (23) who pays for his gas for him so that he’s not late to pick up his daughter from daycare. Shawn finds him very annoying.

The same thing happens every single day, Viktor telling him he could make it up to him with dinner. Viktor’s only objective is to drive Shawn away from a public area so he can kill him.

Shawn eventually agrees and they get drunk and Shawn starts saying things about how worthless he feels and all that. Viktor says they should do this again sometime.

Viktor gets attached and he dates Shawn, without telling him about the people he’s killed.

Viktor goes out, looking for his mom, until he finds her and attempts to beat her to death with his crowbar. She just asks him for a hug and tells him she’s sorry. He hugs her, saying he forgives her, then stabs her. Watching her die, he continues hugging her for like 20 minutes, covered in blood.

Driving down the highway, Shawn sees Viktor limping down the side of the road, covered in blood carrying a crowbar. He pulls over and they argue till Viktor convinces him to let him drive him home.

While Viktor grabs his stuff from the trunk, Shawn runs into the house with his daughter, locking all the doors and running to the bedroom. Viktor breaks the front door open for him to reach through and unlock it. Shawn goes through all Viktor’s shit (guns & meds). Viktor opens the bedroom door, Shawn hides his daughter in the closet. Viktor strangles Shawn telling him he has to kill him now because he knows he kills people. But he starts seeing Axl in Shawn’s place and collapses to the floor. Shawn runs away and Viktor overdoses till he ends up in the hospital.

Shawn can’t find his daughter (Izzabelle/Izzy). He becomes depressed again and gets with some guy named Jacob (20 or 21).

About five months after the incident, Viktor visits Shawn at his retail job and pretends like he didn’t do anything. He repeatedly tries explaining himself (kind of repeating the gas thing) until Shawn gives in.

(skipping past the β€œwholesome” time they finally spend together)[]

The doctors had noticed the faint blood stains on Viktor, scientists DNA tested the blood but he was released before they could find out whose blood it was.

Indie’s corpse was found weeks after Viktor got out of the hospital.

An investigation goes down and Viktor tries escaping before he’s put in jail and is killed.

Book 3 (Unfinished)[]

Backstory: Izzy (Shawn’s daughter) had gone through an open vent in Viktor’s closet and escaped Viktor’s house. She was found by an old couple who took care of her till the lady died.

(this is where the book starts)

15 years later Izzy is 16. She’s completely forgotten about her life with Shawn and Viktor. She has a good relationship with the guy that takes care of her (based off Hopper and Eleven in Stranger Things!!)

Summarizing the final book without going into too much detail like the last two, Izzy investigates everything leading up to now. She and her best friends, Tommy (FTM), Ophelia (MTF), Lillian, Rohn and Aurora all discover Izzy’s past and they meet Ebony (remember Damon’s bounty-hunting sister?).

Ebony kind of helps them till the very end where the trial is one the line.

This is the book that ties everything together, leaving everyone from the first two books, either dead, deserving what they got or at peace.

Dear Mr Nobody

I don’t remember being born. My brother told me everyone was crying. Which was flattering.

I never knew my parents, my brother unfortunately did. They were never terrible people, you could consider them kind, but their funeral is something I’m glad I missed. If you never knew them, you have no reason to cry. They died before my first birthday in a tragic fire accident. My brother is the one to take care of me, he’s a doctor, his name is Noah. Noah is 21, we live in an apartment together. He’s the best person I’ve ever met, maybe because I don’t meet people very often. He’s wanted to be a doctor since the age of five as far as I’m concerned. Or maybe he wanted to be a doctor when our parents died, so that next time he could save them.

The hospital doesn’t treat him too well. He’s underpaid because our mother was black. I’m still in school. I’m 16. I made quite a bit of money this summer from mowing people's lawns and getting the leaves out of the gutters on their roofs. 643 dollars my brother declined. I tried giving it to him, because there wasn’t anything I could do with it, but he never took it.

I live in a town called Penshaw, Ontario. It isn’t very exciting. Half of it looks like downtown Toronto and the other half is pure farmland. We live between the two where everything is overly cheap and substandard. I go to therapy about 20 minutes from our place every day. The rare occasion being I actually show up. There’s a gas station right next to the mental health hospital with some damn good slushies.

My therapist is named Dr. Bryson. He’s nice, but I hate him. I don’t like therapists, they ask me uncomfortable questions and smile through the whole thing. Yes, I feel bad for not going because I know the money my brother spends on the weekly visits is a drastic amount compared to his salary but I know telling him would only make him worry. I don’t like having people worry, it makes me feel worse than getting told off.

I got a journal from Dr. Bryson where he told me to write down my feelings. I remember the first time I went, I wouldn’t tell him very much, so he made me write things down and at the end of the session he’d read it. He’d make me write things like if I were happy or angry when we talked or if there was something he said that bothered me. I felt little to nothing for what I wrote. It never really affected me when he spoke, it was just annoying. It felt like he was asking too much.

I sat on the couch, my head tilted back and my eyes closed as I listened to the TV. My brother should be off from work any second as of now. I had been sitting here for the past half hour listening to our neighbors through the thin, paper walls while the TV whirred with voices. The window was open so I could hear the rainfall as well. This was therapy.

The door creaked open. β€œAxl?” Noah dropped his black duffle bag on the dusty wooden floor. β€œWhat are you doing?”

My head turned to watch him shut the window.

β€œYou know it’s not summer anymore, we have to keep these shut.” He looked back at me and met my dreary eyes. β€œWhat did you do all day?”

I blinked. β€œWent to the grocery store and slept.” My eyes fell on the TV.

He glanced over to the kitchen where I set the bag of groceries. β€œThank you.” He patted my head. I re-adjusted it. My hair is dyed black on one side and white on the other. My brother's hair is in dreads while I just leave mine. Appearance-wise my skin isn’t as dark as my brothers, but I’m obviously mixed. I have a scar crawling up my jawline next to my mouth and another on the back of my neck. The first was from swimming. My eyes were usually a dull shade of light brown. I only ever wore hoodies and jackets with jeans and sweatpants.

β€œDo you want to do something tomorrow?” Noah came around the other side of the couch and sat down next to me. β€œSome of my friends will probably come over and we’ll have some beers if you would like to join.” He smiled. β€œOf course not the beer part but they’d definitely like to meet you.” I felt his hand pat my back.

β€œOkay.”

β€œReally? You’ll meet them?”

No, it’s not like I said okay. β€œYes.” I flipped through TV channels, unattentive to what he was saying.

β€œAwesome! You’ll probably like them, they’re pretty nice.”

β€œWhere’d you meet them?” I didn’t have very many friends. Just people I stood next to during break. I was on a Volleyball team so I guess that means I get a free pass into the dickhead club. I did have one friend though. Robin Dexter.

β€œA university club.” He was looking through his phone. β€œRemember Jill? She introduced me to her boyfriend’s friends.” He showed me a picture of Jill. She’s attractive.

I stopped going through channels till I reached Penshaw News. β€œDid she break up with her boyfriend?” I wanted it to sound casual but I just made it awkward.

He smirked. β€œNo, why? You think she’s hot?”

β€œShe’s good looking, and your age. You should ask her out.” Was what came out casually instead. He didn’t say anything in return. I turned the TV up as the broadcasting lady spoke with her papers in front of her.

β€œFamous Toy selling company owners, Michael McCartney and Kaytlin McCartney moved from London England to Penshaw Ontario. The couple claim they look for a quieter life in downtown Penshaw, to live with their daughter and son. The rich family has decided to pass their business down to Mr Michael’s brother, hoping they can-”

I groaned. β€œEveryone’s going to be all over those two kids if they show up at my school.”

β€œMaybe you could date the daughter and make us some bank.” Noah teased after the comment I made on him and Jill.

I shoved his shoulder. β€œNot a chance in hell.” I’ve had plenty of meaningless relationships, one after the other, so I don’t exactly want to fall into that habit once again. Noah never meets any of the girls I date, out of my personal choice. It only makes me more mortified or devastated when we break up.

I wish I could choke the time I had left to say goodbye by the throat and stab the words out of my mouth because goodbye is the most bittersweet thing to kill somebody with.

She never said goodbye and I can still feel her eyes following me through the halls.
